Girls United

Following on from our success earlier this season, the Year 6 Girls Football Team took part at the Greater Manchester Finals at Manchester United's Cliff training ground last Friday.

Playing schools from across the region, we came a respectable 8th out of 12 teams, winning and drawing over half our matches.

Our record was as follows: won 2, drew 4, lost 4.

1-2 Plymouth Grove

1-0 Claremont

0-3 New Moston

1-0 Bredbury Green

0-0 Lewis Street

0-1 Ringway

1-1 Button Lane

0-0 Longsight

0-3 Acacias

1-1 Hey with Zion

Irlam Primary (did not show)

We have a future superstar in Olive from Year 3, who scored all our goals except one. That was scored by Dominique, who later also saved a penalty (she must have been taking tips from England in the World Cup!)

Great performances were also given by Erin, Angelica and Terry-Ann.

Can we go better next year? St Hilda's have a huge chance as Thea, Ajuni and Ade will be eligible next year as they are currently in Year 5.

Thanks to Mr Mooney for coaching them on the day, Tom and Jake for training them this year, Ade's Dad for accompanying us on the trip and Miss Mcilhinney for organising the event.
