Worship

At St Hilda’s CE Primary School we are committed to offering high quality collective worship. We recognise and value collective worship as central to fostering a sense of community and to expressing our school vision and values.

As a Church of England Primary School, we see our Collective Worship as a central part of school life. It is the heartbeat of our school, whereby pupils and adults can encounter faith by engaging in conversations about God, both as individuals and together, through meaningful contributions from the whole school community.

Collective Worship in St Hilda’s CE Primary School will do the following:

  • Explore the school’s vision and values.
  • Help pupils and adults to appreciate the relevance of faith in today’s world by encountering the teachings of Jesus and the Bible.
  • Offer the opportunity to all pupils and adults to grow spiritually through experiences of prayer, worship and reflection.
  • Enable all members of the whole school community to appreciate that Christians worship in different ways, for example using music, silence, story, prayer, reflection as well as through the varied liturgical and other traditions of Anglican worship.
  • Offer pupils the opportunity to become Worship Leaders, engaging in the planning, leading and evaluation of collective worship in ways that lead to improving practice.

All worship will follow order of service and will include hymns and prayer. All of whole school worship will focus on teachings of the Bible. Prayers and worship should be led by a mixture of SLT, the local Reverend and our worship group members. The school will follow the liturgical calendar for key Christian celebrations.

We have whole school worship at the following times:

Tuesday 9:00am Collective Worship with Rev Ross Malkin

Wednesday: 9:00am Singing Celebration

Special Services and Visitors

We value our links with the staff and congregation of St Hilda’s Church who regularly lead our in school worship and offer additional opportunities to lead our services in the church.

Our Christian Values

At St Hilda’s, we have 12 Christian Values. As part of our worship, we focus on our values and how our pupils can showcase these values in all aspects of their life. Our Christian Values are promoted through the celebrations such as Christmas, Easter and Harvest, and through prayer and reflection. We encourage the pupils to understand each of these values and use them as a tool to guide them on their own spiritual journey.
